Summer Reading Program

Guidelines for young adults (going into 7th and up)



1. Books may be listed from Monday, June 30th—Friday, August 22nd.

2. Books that have a due date earlier than Monday, June 23rd, may not be listed.

3. Books must be on your reading level.

4. Books with yellow or spine labels may not be counted.

5. Books checked out at another library may be listed if the book appears on the Montvale School’s list of suggested reading or the Montvale Library’s suggested reading list. 

6. The last day to start a list is Monday, July 28th.

7. If you plan to go away on vacation during the summer you can still join the summer reading program.  Please speak to someone in the children’s department before you leave for more information.

8. Books can be added on to your log at anytime.  Reading logs will be kept at the children’s desk. 

9. Prizes will be awarded at the end of the summer at our End-of-Summer Party on

     Wednesday, September 3rd at 6:30pm.  If you will not be able to attend you can   

     pick up your prizes the following week.

Point System

 

100 pages read = 1 point

Attending a young adult program = 1 point

Bringing a friend to a program = 1 point

Volunteering at a summer program = 1 point

Audio books = 3 points

Biography = 1 extra point in addition to points for pages

Graphic novel = 1 extra point in addition to points for pages

Writing a 1 paragraph review of a book you’ve read this summer = 1 point
