GOING TO COLLEGE

You will be hard pressed to find a college WITHOUT its own home page on the Internet.  Web addresses can be found in Barron's and Peterson's college guidebooks, US News & World Report on line,  or you can try to construct the address.  Most addresses take the form http://www.collegename.edu

Most colleges provide information on the admissions process and general information about the school.  College catalogs and program descriptions are now found on nearly all college web sites. Some provide for filing applications over the Internet. Below is a list of colleges in New Jersey with links to their home pages and catalogs if available.

Other web sites you will find useful include collegenet.com which allows you to sort through over 500 colleges to find one that matches your needs.  They provide a free database of scholarship information and include other links. Once you know where you are going you need to pay for it!  Finaid.org is a highly acclaimed site for researching financial aid and scholarship opportunities. Go to the Department of Education's FAFSA site to download a free financial aid form.

Researching scholarship opportunities:
Broke Scholar
College Board's Scholarship Search
Fastweb
GeoScholarships.com

Other useful sites:
CollegeQuest.com - Peterson's on line guide
CollegeBoard.org - Site of the College Board of Entrance Examinations.  Info on SATs.
