The Montvale Free
Public Library Volunteers |

In the Adult Department, the Montvale Library generally employs volunteers only for specific projects with scheduled start and completion dates. All volunteers in the Adult Department will be required to complete a “Hold Harmless Agreement.”
In the Children’s/YA Departments, volunteers may be employed for specific projects or for a specific length of time, at the discretion of the Youth Services Coordinator. Students performing required community service and girl scouts/boy scouts working toward badges will be considered volunteers. The parents/guardians of any volunteer under the age of eighteen will be required to complete a “Parental/Guardian Consent and Hold Harmless Agreement.” The minimum age for volunteering in the Children’s Room is fourteen. No volunteer may work in the Children’s Room unless directly supervised by a Library staff member.
Applicants for volunteer positions must be interviewed by the head of the relevant department. An interview does not guarantee that a volunteer position will be forthcoming. All decisions of the department heads are final.
Employment as a volunteer is in no way a promise of paid employment, should an opening arise during the volunteer’s time at the Library.
Interested persons are also encouraged to become English as a Second Language tutors through the Literacy Volunteers of Pascack Valley and/or to join the Friends of the Montvale Free Public Library.
