The Montvale Library generally charges a "unit price" for a lost item,
unless the actual cost of the item is significantly higher--or lower--than the unit pricing.

In lieu of payment for a lost Montvale item, patron may purchase a NEW
copy for the Library.
Note:  It must be exactly the same edition as the lost item and
must be NEW.  (When the Library replaces a lost item--
regardless of age or condition--the Library purchases a NEW copy.)

Payment for an item belonging to another library MUST be by a check
made out to the owning library.  We will not accept a
purchased copy in lieu of payment.
